Spring Forest

Looking for a little peace and quiet without living out in the country? Spring Forest is just for you, located right in the heart of Rocky Mount, this neighborhood is a little getaway with the quaintness of a quiet sleepy suburb; perfect for taking the dog for a walk or going for a stroll throughout the neighborhood.

Four Seasons has built homes in this neighborhood on Alby St., Jennings Ct. and currently two story homes on Spring Forest Dr., with more following soon after!

SF is tucked in between Bethlehem Rd.  & Old Mill Rd. Spring Forest is conveniently located close to Winstead Avenue Elementary, Rocky Mount High and Rocky Mount Academy. There isn’t a need to drive far for groceries, drinks, or a good meal  because  SF is 2.5 miles off of Sunset Ave near Harris Teeter, Rite Aid, Westridge Grill, HoneyBaked Ham, and my personal favorite; Lou Reda’s (if you haven’t had their sweet potato fries & skillet mac and cheese you’re missing out).

Each home in Rocky Mount has its own personality with original colors that fits the different personas of each home buyer.  The one story homes located on Alby St. and Jennings Ct. give off cottage ambiances that give a cozy feeling far away from the city.

De-stress This Christmas

Its that exciting time of year, Christmas is just around the corner and seems like it came right out of no where, without any warning signs. Now that the holidays are here so is all the hustle and bustle that comes in tow.  It is hard to imagine adding in the social standards that social media now demands. Pictures of your perfectly decorated tree and house, with kids crafts on the weekends to keep little messy fingers occupied while you just try to keep the house clean or in reasonable shape before company arrives.

I just wanted to share a few ideas that are simple but will make a big bang when it comes to Christmas.

First! Whoever says you have to decorate exactly the same every year? I think there is definitely cause for tradition, but the knickknacks that you’ve been given and hoarded over all these years, you don’t have to pull them out this year. Why not change it up? Make Christmas a little more simple this year, with less time stressing and decorating and more time together.  Especially if you have lots of little themes within your decorations. Pick one collection a year to display, this will thin out the Christmas over your house so that you can breathe. This year set out a display of all the snowmen you have, next year bring out the Christmas village. Separate out all of the kid's ornaments they made as a child and put them on a little mini tree that can be set up somewhere special. Make your husband a sports themed tree covered in all his golf, and team ornaments, even add some Panther blue lights with a helmet as the tree topper. If you do not have time and just put some old holiday photos in the frames you already have out, then this holiday picture can stay behind your normal family portrait until next Christmas.

Head over to Seredipity Refined for more decorating tips, click on the picture above to read about her Christmas decorations! I love how she added Christmas to a collection she already had on display!

Second! You do not have to be the hostest mostest. You can be the hostest with the microwave velveeta and rotel with tortilla chips. Put up your tree, put out your 5 favorite knick knacks, buy the pretty throw away Christmas plates and napkins, put a Christmas mug full of candy canes out on the table, hang some regular green and red ornaments from a light fixture, and pin up all your Christmas cards on a wide ribbon to decorate the coat closet door and make all your cards visible, and boom you're done.

tip* hang a command hook upside down, use a binder clip to grab the end of the ribbon and loop over your hook, or just make a loop out of your ribbon. Or hang anything else over a door or picture frame this way!

Click this photo to see tips from Thrify Decor Chick!

tip* These Christmas tree brownies may be the easiest Christmas desert besides a box of Little Debbies, (which are perfectly acceptable to most Christmas gatherings, the kids will love you!)

Third! Do not stress, if you catch yourself stressing over this holiday season, go ahead and get the biggest task out of your way, do it now! I know you cannot move Christmas dinner and get it done with now, but find some way that always makes you panic when that dinner comes around and change it. We're less than a week away when I publish this post, have you wrapped yet, have you made time to enjoy a night with the kids making cookies without rushing? Delegate those last minute chores that need to be done before you head out of town or everyone comes to your house, ban all technology and until chores around the house are done, write a list of options and hang it on the fridge so kids can compete to do the most chores that will get them the most money and get their phone and Xbox back.

If you're going to be rushing anyway, then take the night off and talk about Christmas with your family and play a board game with no cell phones, and curl up to watch Polar Express so you can focus on those around you!

Fourth! Pick a Christmas tree that fits your house, or buy a house to fit your tree.  My family has a habit of buying one that is too tall for our ceilings then the angel has a little bald spot where the ceiling has rubbed the paint off of her head.  Well no worries for next year, I have the perfect place for you to put your tree. The entryway at 6273 Venice Ct. is open to the second floor, and what a better way to decorate that space than to put a nice and tall Christmas tree right there in the entry way. Or wrap the banister in a lighted garland, attach a few ornaments or bows, and voila!

Turn this foyer at 6273 Venice Ct. into...

...this

See more from Heathered Nest on how she decorated this tree in her foyer!

**If your kids have been begging Santa for a puppy, this house also comes with a fenced in backyard. So parents, ask Santa for 6273 Venice Ct. for Christmas.

Thanks for Reading! We hope you have a wonderful Christmas spent with family and friends!

3389 Buffaloe Ridge Ct.

Welcome, welcome to Tharrington Way! This is one of my favorite neighborhoods. When you drive from any direction, you get to experience the little rolling hills of Nash County that are surprising to anyone not from here, with farmlands and trees and beautiful homes, driving out here just feels like home to me. So fitting perfectly into that scene is 3389 Buffaloe Ridge Ct. This home is set back off the road and has a large backyard with a tree line around the back, offering privacy, and keeping you in touch with nature.

Walking into this home you will immediately fall in love with this house plan. A formal dining room is set to the front of the house that could be used for a dining room, a sitting room, or office with this gorgeous chandelier.

A large island looks over the living area and serves as a great work place with functional storage. You may have been trying to improve our lighting game, and we believe this house was a success! So please share this post if you agree :-)

Built in cabinets surrounding the fireplace, and large windows bring in massive amounts of light, and make this home feel like a cozy cottage in the woods.

Also on the first floor is the master suite. We’ve painted this in a calming blue and added some tray ceilings to add some dimension. A quiet get away for mom and dad, a place to retreat, soak, and prep for what tomorrow has in store.

Upstairs houses walk in attic space, two guest bedrooms, a bathroom, and a bonus room.

Checking out the exterior, I almost forgot to mention you have this back porch, and a large crawl space allows for a cement floor underhouse storage.

Featured Listing Friday: 110 Jennings Ct.

Today we are featuring a home that lends the most cozy feelings. 110 Jennings Ct. almost seems like it could be a cottage in the woods and a good place to escape from the rest of the world. The exterior of this home is a charcoal grey with stone that brings in a lot of warmth.  Adding to the cottage aspect, there is a perfect little patio where you could put two rocking chairs to sit, rock, and enjoy the quiet back cul-de-sac of Spring Forest.  This patio is covered, so you could even sit and enjoy the pitter patter of an afternoon rain shower.

Walking in through the front door we walk into a nice open living area, a long great room provides many ways to arrange furniture.  One option could be to make a false entry way by dividing the room with a table behind a couch directing traffic to the right towards the master bedroom, or to the left towards the kitchen and guest bedrooms.  Check out this easy DIY from Saffron Avenue on how to make your own table for behind your couch, and take some inspiration from her decorations! Click over to this house plan Spring Forest 1, to see how you would arrange your furniture.

The house has great neutral colors that give a good base for you to use whatever color scheme you wish while decorating. The kitchen stays nice and bright with light giallo ornamental granite and a linen colored subway tile backsplash.  There is a nook for a kitchen table and a buffet, and you can have additional bar seating. This move in ready home is just waiting for you to bring in your things, and start cooking! Behind that pocket door in the kitchen is a laundry room and the door leading to the garage.

The 3 bedrooms are carpeted, and 2 baths have vinyl flooring. The master bath has a double vanity, linen closet, and walk in shower unit.  If you are looking for a walk in shower with seats, making it safer to walk into the shower and have the ability to take a break from standing, this is a great bathroom for you, and grab bars can easily be installed for an extra handhold. The second bathroom has a tub shower combo, so there is still a tub for bathing your kids or grandkids.

Of course this home also includes all of our standard features for the Spring Forest homes, granite countertops, a fenced in backyard, back patios and paved sidewalks, sod yards, mailboxes with a paper box, 2” blinds, and a one car garage. We are very excited with how this neighborhood addition has turned out and would love to see you be a part of it. Call our office today if you are interested in learning more about this property!   252-462-0022

How great would your family's doggie best friend look behind this fence?

Featured Listing Friday: 4906 Elkhorn Ct.

Newly reduced, this charming home is centrally located in the Baywood neighborhood in Nash County.  Just a minute’s drive from the Tar River Reservoir this neighborhood also has quick access to I-95, Rocky Mount, and Wilson.  It is located off of S. Old Carriage Rd. between Bend of the River Rd. and the Rocky Mount - Wilson Regional Airport.

The floor plan of this house is the Hatteras First Floor only plan, with 1624 sq ft of living space.  The master suite, 2 guest bedrooms, and second bath are located downstairs on opposite ends of an open living space.  The connecting kitchen, living, and dining area opens into one large room.  A long front porch offers a great home for rocking chairs and a swing.

The living area has built in bookshelves around the fireplace, making a central focal point for decorating with your favorite books, photos, and tchotchkes.  A door to the back porch comes off of the living area, adding dimension to the kitchen, as a place to entertain more guests, and grill outside.  The large walk-in laundry room features counter space for folding and extra cabinet space for storage.

Though the plan’s name says first floor only, this home also has a stairway leading up to a fully floored attic that could be finished in numerous ways to provide a bonus room, extra bedroom and a bathroom.  A large bonus room could do overtime as a guest area, and study/play area for kids!  Making a specific study area is a great way to encourage your children to study and dream big when they are working on their homework from Coopers Elementary, and Nash Central Middle and High School!

The Baywood (link) neighborhood is a great neighborhood for growing families.  Helping to foster good community, this neighborhood features a pool and clubhouse.  Inside the clubhouse is an exercise room, living area, and a kitchenette.  Use this space for neighborhood gatherings and private parties when you don’t want the hassle of having everyone in your home for a birthday party!
